Master Bathroom Update

Last Saturday I went ahead and updated the master bathroom at The Queen’s Quarters. For months now I’d been debating whether or not I would switch the hardware in this space to black, primarily based on a picture I had on the wall, as seen below…

There was another picture on the opposite side of the bathroom with a black frame as well, and I would walk by and toy with the idea of switching out the hardware and fixtures to black, and spray painting (you all know I love spray painting) the mirrors black. To see what the master bathroom looked like before the changes, you can click here. Ultimately, I decided against going black after I purchased and installed new picture frames in that same spot, as seen below….

It felt brighter in the space, and I fell in love with the mixture of the mirrored portion of the frames, which comes across “chrome-y” enough, to mix-n-match with all the other chrome features. And the champagne gold trim was just enough gold to pull me in.

From the time mixed metals became “a thing” in the decor world, I hadn’t been a fan. But seeing these frames in the bathroom changed my mind. I knew I could spray paint the mirror frames to a muted, antique-ish gold, but I wasn’t sure what to do about switching out the cabinet hardware. I mean, there were holes in the doors and drawers already, and I definitely didn’t want to start digging around to find ways to fill them. Soooo… I decided to get the same, exact pulls I had, just in gold. Voila! Problem solved…

These drawer pulls are by GlideRite, purchased from Amazon, and it took me less than 30 minutes to switch them all out. I used Rustoleum Hammered Gold Rush spray paint purchased from Home Depot, but I hand painted, then blotted them a bit, to maintain the sort of unfinished, hammered look. An hour later, they were back on the wall. I love the overall result of these minor changes and I’m sold on the mixed metals… at least in this space.

And here’s part of the bathroom that’s incredibly small and difficult to photograph. Honestly, if you suffer from claustrophobia, then you’d be very uncomfortable in…. the privacy room.

So sorry I couldn’t get a better shot, but this space too, was mixed metaled this past weekend.

I am thoroughly happy with how it all turned out, especially since it’s a continuation of the mirror/champagne gold look from the master bedroom.

You can see more of the master bedroom here. More than ever before, I’m 100% convinced, that I will NEVER be “finished” decorating this house! I’ve already spied out a couple other areas that I want to tweak around the house, yikes! So stay tuned. Thanks so much for stopping by, and please let me know your thoughts and questions in the comments below. Until next time… :)xo
