I’ve said many times, a real decorator is never finished decorating their home. Trying to defy myself in this, I announced “I’m done” a few times after I moved in. But I’ve changed a few things… ok, more than a few, haha! But here is the latest…
Same Buffet, Different Color
I purchased this hutch, table or whatever you want to call it, a couple days after I moved in, when I decided I didn’t want my desk area there. I’d decided to use the open nook area just to the right of this space as my home office, instead of using it as a sitting or filming area. So I had to decide what to do with the small space across from the dining area. I decided to use it for what I’m sure the builders intended, as a buffet/serving area. I call it the “buffet nook.”
I wasn’t thrilled with it, but it stayed this way for a several months, until I changed the styling of it to this…
Ehhh… after raising the mirror, adding some lamps and adjusting a few decor items, it was better, but I still didn’t have that “Yes!” feeling in my decor gut. I walked past it for a few more months, until I couldn’t take it anymore. When I told a girlfriend I was going to revamp the area, she said “Yes, finally! That’s the only area in your house that doesn’t go with the rest of it.” Sooo… I don’t know if you noticed but, everything in my house is white, acrylic, glass and mirrors, haha!!! And for those of you who’ve known me a while, you know I will paint or spray paint anything. So I painted the table, got some taller, more dramatic lamps from HomeGoods, and added full-length mirrors to the wall for drama, also from HomeGoods. I took the sculpture, welded by my mom, from the acrylic stand on the floor, to a smaller one on the tabletop. Here’s how it all turned out…
Don’t mind the paint can, haha! I loved it. But it was still missing something. And then I found it… also at HomeGoods. Can you tell I like HomeGoods?
I saw this large, faux fiddle leaf plant and immediately knew it would be perfect in this space!
This has brightened up the entire space, and NOW it feels like everything goes together. You can click HERE to see the original reveal of my open concept home featuring the living room, dining room, kitchen and home office. Now on to the changes in the master closet… See you in the next post :)xo
