It’s a throwback to May of this year, when I had the opportunity to makeover a guest bedroom for a client. Let’s dive into the process, shall we?
Finding inspiration
Not knowing what you want, or having a vision for a space you’re looking to makeover is not unusual. So one of the first things I ask my clients to do is find pictures of rooms that inspire them so we can go through them together to determine which details are attracting them. In the case of this client, after reviewing her Pinterest board of inspiration, full of light, airy bedrooms, with mixed fabrics, natural elements, greenery and macrame, it was quite clear she wanted a “BoHo Chic” vibe and feel to this room.
The end result is what I call BoHo Chic Minimalist, and I’m happy to say that the client was thrilled. Here’s what the room looked liked before…
Unfortunately, I don’t have “before” pictures prior to the room being emptied. I was halfway through the prepping stages when I realized I hadn’t taken any (insert sad face here). The room is extremely small with minimal natural light streaming in, so the underlying goal was to brighten up the space.
the reveal
My client is drawn to beige, creme and ivory colors, so for the walls I used Behr Marquee paint color “White Mocha” in the Eggshell finish. This is such a pretty color, and the client liked it so much, that she’s now considering painting the other walls in her home.
I re-upholsered the headboard with textured fabric from JoAnn’s.
The bedding, including the bedskirt, sheets and duvet set are from Bed Bath Beyond. The coverlet and decorative pillows, as well as the nightstand decor accents, the rattan wall decor, wood-trimmed round mirror, corner poof, full-length mirror, seat/stool, plant and basket are all from HomeGoods. I told you it’s my favorite decor store. 🙂 The lamps are from Target. The area rug and macrame wall hangings are from Amazon, here, and here, and the darker, tan bed throw is also from Amazon here. All artwork is by PaBell Studios.
The window treatment features the same rod that was there previously, only spray painted, a sheer, guaze-ish type fabric from SAS Fabric Superstore, hung on gold drapery rings from Walmart; and added for blocking that Arizona morning sun, are blackout liners, also from Walmart.
This project took two weeks from discussion to final reveal. Eventually, the chandelier will be transformed into a more “BoHo Chic” style by spray painting it and adding some beading. I can’t wait to tackle that, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted. Until next time…
