This past Thursday I had the opportunity to go see Carrie Underwood on her “Storyteller” tour at Talking Stick Arena here in Phoenix. Oh my goodness, what an incredible show and performer! From the stage set, sound and the fantastical lights, just WOW! I was “blown away”, to coin another Carrie song! And then of course to cap it all off, her freakishly amaze-balls vocal performance of 22 songs! That girl has some lungs, good God!!! And to know she does that night after night… I’m in awe. Being a singer who truly appreciates the craft, I would’ve wanted to go to this concert even if I wasn’t a Carrie fan, but I am… let’s just make that clear; a HUGE fan, since her American Idol days. I was never a fan of Country music until Carrie arrived on the scene and year after year, album after album, my admiration grows with favorites on each one. I’m currently stuck on “Church Bells” and “Choctoaw County Affair” from her latest cd release, but all time CU favs include “Two Black Cadillacs”, “Something in the Water”, “Last Name”, “Undo It”, “Unapologize”, “Cowboy Cassanova”, “All-American Girl, “Flat on the Floor”, “Jesus Take the Wheel”, and what girl doesn’t love the anthem “Before He Cheats”? LOL!
I was fortunate enough to be gifted two tickets to this concert but quickly found how daunting it would be to find someone who wanted to go. I kept getting: “Thanks for asking but I’m not into Country music.” With only a day left to spare, thank goodness my friend Yoshica Mitchell said “Yes”, and was happy and excited to go. It was a fun time. The Suite seats were perfect and I was free to stand up and sing/scream along and dance to my heart’s content. I seriously could see this show again, and I probably will!
