The C Word goes to Vegas is a post, a story, in pictures of my travels to Vegas to attend Ari Squire’s Release The Chains Revenue Retreat. It was such a privilege to be able to present my book and speak about it’s message on such a wonderful platform. Prior to this event, any time I had to appear on a stage to sing, I would be overwhelmed with nervousness and anxiety, even though it was/is my absolute favorite thing to do. But speaking about the book, on a television network morning show or in front of conference goers, didn’t present any of those feelings. I felt comfortable and relaxed as I shared why I wrote the book, the process of publishing it, and what I hoped it accomplishes as it makes it’s way into the hands of readers; an inward confirmation that I am on the right path.
I am so grateful to my friend Jazmin Villa who traveled with me to help with the technical aspects of the table sales. We had a terrific time and hopefully we’ll have more opportunities to road trip together!
Since decor is my second favorite thing to do in the world, I definitely got a little “extra” with my tablescape. I’m a bit picky (surprise, surprise) when it comes to backdrops, tablecloths and chairs. It began with a vision, like most things do, of what I wanted my table to look like when people walked up to it. I combed through my arsenal of fabric and decided to use this shimering pink chiffon that used to grace the walls of my kitchen in my first home, then the formal dining room of my second one, to tie together the two banners I purchased for the book launch party. The white tablecloth was rented from White House Design Studios, and the white Louis Chairs…
Oh how I LOVE these chairs! They were rented from Event Rents. The “love” piece, flowers and vases were all items from my home. I wanted to keep it simple. It took an hour to set up and less than 30 minutes to take down.
A few posts back I shared about the importance of investing in yourself, especially when you have goals you’re working towards accomplishing, and you can read it here. The conference was quite informative, inspiring and motivational. The speakers all delivered unifying messages on increasing entrepreneurial profits. Even if you weren’t able to maximize your return on this investment, by further investing in the coaching products and services that were offered, there was a wealth of information given to get you well on your way to seeing a positive difference in your business. After we learned, we played…. The all-white party was so much fun, with great music and lots of laughs! Here are just a few photos…
I was able to connect with Chantelle Cotton who was Director of Sales for the conference…
And re-connect with Cheryl Pullins, Branding Strategist…
Mr. Alfred Edmond, Jr., Senior Vice President and Editor-at-Large for Black Enterprise magazine was one of my favorite speakers, mobilizing me to action towards putting my financial house in order.
Mr. Edmond purchased a copy of my book and before I could get home, he’d read most of it and posted this review on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter…
And then later that evening posted this one, having almost finished it…
Talk about a wow! Here are a few others who purchased The C Word: Melanie Boothe, another wonderful conference staff member whose parents got a copy for her, Alisha Davis of Real Natural Salon, Shanell Whitmore, hair stylist, Teleica Dawson, Life Coach, Tameisha Pigford, Owner of Dream Celebrations, Inc., Waiter, (yes he goes by one name; his God-given name), the young man who was working hard filming the entire event, ran out to catch me just after I’d loaded my car to head home to make sure he purchased a copy, and Ronita Boullt, Healthcare Education Disability Advocate, who unfortunately I didn’t get a picture with. A huge thank you to all of them!
This was my first traveling vendor experience and thankfully, it went well. I am so excited to see where The C Word goes next! As always, I’d love to hear from you, so please leave a comment, and thank you so much for stopping by my place on the web!
