The ME You Didn’t Know

I always say you should never judge a person without first getting to know them. In this age of social media, text messaging and emails, its difficult to really get to know people. You can’t always tell the tone of a person’s mood in an email, and emojis only go so far in accurately capturing how someone really feels. Then when you’re finally face-to-face, it seems incredibly awkward. Especially dating, but I’ll save that for another post. And what is with all the dating text messaging anyway? Just pick up the dang phone and call if you’re going into round 5 of a text message!!!! Ok, I’m sorry, I did say I’d save that for another post, lol!!! I originally intended to post a “getting to know you” video, however, if you’ve been following this blog you know that I’ve been a little displaced, residing with my mom while my house is being built, and I haven’t been able to make it happen. Bummer. So I decided to simply write one instead, for now, and I will do a follow-up video at a later date. I’m thinking if you’re reading this, then you must be interested in Ingrid Bohannon of love. grace. class. style. Right?

So here are a few fun facts…. I love God and consider myself to be spiritual. I was a professional baton twirler by the age of 11.I also started singing when I was 11. I absolutely hate cold and snow. I love Christmas. It’s my favorite holiday. I am a glamour girl. I love make-up, and hair and nail polish and anything else girly. I seriously, strongly dislike fake people. I regard being stood-up as the ultimate “dis” from which there is no recovery. I loathe being taken advantage of and being lied to. One sure way to be blocked from my life permanently is to lie to me, take advantage of me or stand me up.I am extremely regimented and disciplined. I’m a neat and clean fanatic, almost to a fault. I am “even-keeled”. No mood swings here. I am very comical and love to laugh, and I laugh at myself often, striving not to ever take myself too seriously.

Hi, my name is Ingrid and I am a movieholic. I never tire of watching movies, and there are some I will watch over and over and over. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched “One Night With the King”, or how I can recite entire dialogues from “The Color Purple” and “Deliver Us From Eva”. The only movie type I don’t particularly care for are horror films. Denzel Washington films never disappoint. And I love anything with Tom Cruise in it, except for “Eyes Wide Shut”. That was just wierd. HaHa!!! Some of my all-time fav flicks are listed below.

IB's favorite movies

I don’t watch a lot of TV but when I do it’s usually to tune into Rachel Maddow, The Daily Show, Scandal, Empire, and BBC America’s Luther. It’s not a regularly scheduled series, but I watch the DVDs of seasons past quite often because, well… it’s Idris Elba!

Ok I’m back, lol!!!!!I love to dance.I love Old School R&B. I’ve always been drawn to other types of music too, except for maybe hard core Country and Hip Hop. I talk about my favorite singer, hands down, Phyllis Hyman in my Here’s That Rainy Day post. And in my Dreaming Again post I reminisced about all the artists I followed as I came into my own as a singer.  I still love all kinds of artists like Lisa Fisher, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Chris Botti, Marc Anthony, Wynton Marsalis, Eric Benet and Peabo Bryson as well.

Things that make me really happy are singing, spa days, the smell of the rain, chai tea, binge-watching movies, good sleep and good food.My all-time favorite restaurant is Houston’s. Their consistency and customer service have been unmatched in the 30-plus years I’ve been a patron. Wow, totally aging myself here, lol!!!When I’m visiting my home town of Chicago I WILL NOT leave without picking up a bag of Garrett’s cheddar cheese and caramel popcorn mix! These days I love to read, and some of my favorite books I’ve recently read are:“Design Your Life” by Rachel Roy“Around the Way Girl” by Taraji P. Henson with Denene MillerMaurice White’s “My Life with Earth, Wind & Fire”“The Wait” by DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good“Colin Cowie Chic”And the person I’d most like to meet and have a conversation with, living or dead… Prince.

  1. Love the way you write and express yourself…I love that you keep it real and being you. Mercy and grace are gifts that I know you can give a way well. Everyone is different and can lead in some way. Your organizational skills will be a blessing to those who weren’t born with it but willing to learn how be. I love at the beginning of your blog when you said don’t judge until you get to know a person, and I agree. Life has a way of taking us on a journey unexpected, unimagined but yet we find ourselves right where we need to be. We have come to a place where we have learned something and can give back without judgement but with grace, class and kindness . Be blessed Ingrid and continue to move forward with all the gifts and talents God has graciously blessed you with. The “Glam Coach” is perfect🙂

    1. Crystal, thank you so very much for your kind words of validation, confirmation and wisdom, written so eloquently. I so appreciate your friendship and can’t wait to see how God uses your talents in 2018. Love you much! 🙂 xo
